CHANGING LANDSCAPE \ HOUSE HOME \ OREO \ A TIRO’ DE \ LA MONDE \ TRANSIENT SKELETONS, VACANT BOXES \ STRUCTURE \ MEMORIES \ BIRTH ![]()
A tiro’ de was an ephemeral gravel-sorting project for Buckingham fountain in Chicago, IL., based on my personal experience with the 2000 U.S. Census and my being half Caucasian and half Hispanic. The gravel was hand-sorted according to my skin tone and arranged into shapes representative of Chicago census tracts (neighborhoods) with 90% or greater Hispanic populations. Pedestrian traffic erased all traces of the project. |
