CHANGING LANDSCAPE \ HOUSE HOME \ OREO \ A TIRO’ DE \ LA MONDE \ TRANSIENT SKELETONS, VACANT BOXES \ STRUCTURE \ MEMORIES \ BIRTH ![]()
Fracture Utopia is a continuation of my investigation into mapping and socio-political relations. Using Buckminster Fuller’s Dymaxion map as a point of departure, the work exists as both a representation of earth and a physical shelter, a tangible diagram of social relationships and their mathematical equivalents- ie. Platonic relations, fractal theory [recursive self-similarity, and chaos]. The eighty triangles can be divided and re-arranged to form several systems of smaller polygons, constituting an alternate view of our world. In these fissiparous models, entire continents/ countries/ communities break away from the whole, creating new asteroids/ bubbles/ entities. The potentiality of this paradoxical model presents viewers with a representation of a unified yet fractured whole, a constellation of independent and distinct locals. |
